                 State Highways department expects to complete the road widening works taken up recently at Coimbatore, Pollachi and Udumalpet (on NH 209) in another four months. According to an official of the department, the project has been taken up by the National Highways wing of the State Highways department under the road safety segment. The works started three months ago to widen the road into a four lane one at a total cost of Rs. 22 crore. It includes works at Pollachi (Rs. 6 crore), Udumalpet (Rs. 6 crore), and Coimbatore (Rs. 10 crore).
